Marketing a cosmetic product: make it a good day for companies, consumers and authorities

Several provisions of the European cosmetics regulation help companies to put safe products on the market and to keep consumers’ confidence. Important issues in that respect will be pointed out, such as the responsibilities of the different operators, the correct status of the product, its safety report, its labelling.

Concerning claims for cosmetic products, the results of the Belgian survey will be presented and followed by information on the latest version of the draft guidelines on specific claims.

When products are on the market, cosmetovigilance provides useful data on their safety of use, even if they are compliant in most cases. As far as non-compliant products are concerned, they are an important cause of health risks, as illustrated by cases treated by market surveillance authorities in the last months.
